Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Its A Homemade Pasta Kind of Day

As I was growing up, my mom noticed my love for baking. So when I left home, she had given me her beloved Kitchen Aid mixer which she has had for years, I think even before I was born. And until today, it still works perfectly as ever. It’s my most favourite thing in the kitchen. This mixer has been part of all my mom’s delicious baked goods and, now, my own.

Yesterday turned out to be a gloomy rainy day, the kind of day where you just want to stay home and wear your most comfortable outfit & wool socks! So we all stayed home and spent most of our day in the kitchen having the best time baking together as a family. Luna sat on her highchair watching us, feeling like she was part of our baking day. I’ve had this Kitchen aid pasta attachment since my birthday in February but haven’t touched it since then. So we decided to open up the box and use it for the first time. Well, let me tell you – it’s the 2nd best thing in my kitchen. I LOVE this pasta attachment and for our first use, we decided to make bucatini pasta. Bucatini is a thick tubular pasta with a hole running through the center. Pasta making couldn’t be easier and faster with this attachment. I love it!

Basically, you first create your pasta dough using the Kitchen Aid mixer. Then let the dough sit for 15 min wrapped in a damp towel. Once it’s ready, all you have to do is create little balls and feed them through the hopper and use the built-in wire cutter to customize the length of the noodles. The attachment comes with 6 discs in total so you can make small macaroni, large macaroni, fusili, rigatoni, bucatini & spaghetti. I plan to make them all!

Oh you just reminded me of the wonderful world of other things I can do with my kitchenaid. I’m off to add pasta attachment to my wishlist…I’ve got a birthday coming up and two girls who eat nothing but pasta.

loved the Captain’s Chair post -clever/cute/fun, but commenting here because two posts in, I’m already a huve fan. Love this post, too. Snuck over here from Anthology’s post when I’m supposed to be working because I wanted to see more totes (obviously!) + I’m taken by anyone who uses Domestic in their name! Love the totes a ton!
