Mmmmm…. Richmond Summer Market! Yum in every corner. Modeled after traditional evening markets in Asia, the Richmond Summer Market will make you feel like you’re actually in Asia without the airplane ride. It opens at 6:30pm but by 7pm, it’s packed with people eyeing what they want to eat next.
One part of the market is all food and the other side are filled with stalls selling sunglasses, electronics and other trinkets all made in Asia. But for us, we bypass that part of the market and go straight for the food. The food is truly amazing, cheap & authentic. You start off buying a few pieces of little steamed dumplings for $2. As you’re eating it, you walk to the next stall and order some more dim sum like siu mai & har gow and next, some bubble waffle. It’s never ending. It’s like a street food crawl!
By the end of the night, you can’t even count how many of those little dumplings, bbq’s & okonomiyaki you have eaten. All you know is that your stomach is stuffed with so much goodness.
So if you plan to go, make sure you bring a lot of small change & and an empty stomach.
