Inspire and Be Inspired
because everyday is a new adventure…
Meet Luna’s little vintage inspired Dolly Llama rag doll. It’s the sweetest little thing and oh so cuddly! This one was custom made for her but you can get them pre-made from their online shop. These are 20″ tall and are all handmade. Even the eyes are hand embroidered! It’s amazing how many dolls Luna has collected throughout the years and toys overflowing in our house. When Luna was a newborn, her room was filled with wooden toys and vintage inspired dolls. Then as the years went by, more and more toys filled our house from birthdays & Christmas presents. There are those toys that come and go. But there are those beautiful well made toys & dolls that you want your kids to keep forever. They’re well made and they look beautiful in a home. This is one of those. There’s so much love and care put into making every single one of these. Thanks Dolly Llama for making our little girl very happy. I love it as much as she does! You can grab one of these for your sweet little girl here.
Happy new year everyone! Sorry I haven’t been on top of my blogging since Christmas started. We were busy with so many Christmas festivities that I didn’t have much time to sit in front of the computer. But for those who follow me on Instagram, you would have seen what we’ve been up to.
We started off the new year with a trip to Palm Springs to get away from the cold and to start the new year right with quality time with the family. Just the 3 of us, together everyday exploring a new place was what we wanted.
We stayed at the beautiful Viceroy Palm Springs and we loved it. It was perfect from day 1. The first thing we did was settle into our room, changed into our bathing suits and went straight to the pool. That first splash in the pool was heaven. We would start each day with a breakfast by the pool and a morning swim. Then head off with our rental car and explore the desert for the rest of the afternoon. Our evenings were spent back in Palm Springs dining at one of the restaurants in town. Our favourite restaurants from the trip was Tinto (Basque style tapas) at Saguaro hotel, Cheeky’s for breakfast, Lulu’s and Las Casuela Terraza for mexican food. We actually really liked our poolside breakfast at Viceroy as well.
In the next little while, I will be posting more photos of Palm Springs. Each post will be dedicated to each place we explored: Pioneer Town, Noah Purifoy, Anza-Borrego, Galleta Meadows, Salton Sea & Salvation Mountain. Each and one of those places were amazing so they deserve their own story.
Here’s a collection of some of my most favourite DIYs. I also feel lucky to have been able to work with the lovely Heather Cameron of Missing Goat Jams to redesign her delicious jam labels. They are the only jams I eat now. Trust me, they are divine! And those customized chocolate bars, they are so easy to do. Great for party giveaways. Enjoy and happy making!
For the past few months, I’ve been busy working on branding World Reclaimed – a home & garden goods from the talented duo Caitlin & Owen of Aloe Designs. It’s been their dream to start up their own online shop with goods Owen makes from reclaimed wood. He recovers materials from Aloe Designs projects and makes beautiful things out of them.
It was a fun project to work on. I was responsible for creating a brand for the products (logo, typography & colour expolorations), photography & styling and web design. Caitlin and I worked closely together bouncing ideas from each other & gathering so much inspiration from all things that inspires them. I really love working this closely with clients especially when I know I’m helping them visualize their dream and helping them make it happen.
Check out their beautiful goods here.

I am obsessed with Rifle Paper Co. I love everything about this brand. Rifle Paper is a stationery & Gift brand located in New York city. Their handpainted illustrations are so beautiful and whimsical. I recently bought their Rosa Print and when I received it in the mail, their beautiful lookbook was neatly tucked in the box. I had to share some of the pages from their lookbook as I am just in love with everything they do.
Every holiday season, Luna and I participate in the shoebox project organized by Samaritan’s Purse. We’ve been doing this since Luna was two and we look forward to it every year. We always choose a child the same age as Luna as it teaches her the concept of giving in a fun & hands-on way. What I love about it is that Luna is really involved when choosing the items. She’ll pick something out and say “I think she will really love this!” and “oh mommy, I think she will love these sparkly socks!”. I know that whatever Luna picks out, the child she is giving it to will love it just as much!
We have a lot of fun filling up the box with all sorts of things. Our box contained a pack of underwear, a dress, clay making toy, small art tote bag with markers for colouring, a bag of santa chocolates, candy, toothbrush, snowman stuffy and a bar of soap.
The dollar store & Walmart is a good place to go for filling up your box. But Old Navy is also an excellent place for finding really cheap shirts or dresses. I go straight to the clearance section and have always found a dress on clearance for $4.99! In the past, we’ve also included a pack of socks, simple white tshirts, notebooks, pencils and tutus we’ve found at a dollar store.
I always wish Luna and I could be there to see the joy in the kids faces when they receive their presents. But back in 2011 when I did a blog post of our shoebox project, a teacher named Patty left a beautiful comment and it’s nice to get a little glimpse of the joy & excitement that happens when the boxes are received by the children. Here’s Patty’s comment:
“The children in the school where I teach receive shoeboxes like these…I’m not sure which organization sponsors the ones they receive…but I’m quite sure that wouldn’t change the reaction the children have to their treasures. They are so thrilled and excited by every item. We spread all around the room so treasures don’t get mixed up. They just bubble over…”come look, come look, look what I got.” It totally makes my Christmas year after year. I feel almost selfish to get to share such excitement with them…those of you who are filling these boxes are doing a wonderful thing…for your own children, for the recipients, and for those of us who get to share that joyful occassion with grateful, excited children. Thank you…do not get too busy to continue this celebration with your child!” — Patty
There are several organizations that do this but we do it with Samaritan’s Purse. You can find out more about it here.

It’s always a nice surprise when I see a little piece of The New Domestic in peoples homes. Recently, I was doing my usual blog reading and was admiring the house of Alexandra & Daniel via The Marion House Book. As I was scrolling down to see the rest of the house, I was happily surprised to see our Bon Journey bag displayed in their room.
