Poppytalk & Westphoria

Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Poppytalk & Westphoria

Thanks to the lovely and talented Jan of Poppytalk for including me to her favourite Canadian Pinterest users. Wow, such an amazing list of people that I need to check out myself! I love Pinterest and use it almost everyday. I’ve always been the type to constantly gather all things that interest me and Pinterest has been great for that. I love how I can categorize them to different boards and able to follow only certain boards that I like from awesome pinners out there. You can check out my pins here. Happy pinning!

I’ve always admired Sunset Magazine so I am flattered and thrilled to have our Bon Journey bags featured on their lovely blog – Westphoria. Thanks guys! xo

Native Shoes

Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Native Shoes

I went to visit the folks at Walrus today and bought myself a pair of Native shoes, the Miller. I wanted to buy the exact same pair for Luna but their kids sizes were still too big for her. These are so comfortable and totally recommend them. I originally wanted the new one that came out which is the Howard but I couldn’t resist the awesome red colour of the Millers. Typical of me, I tend to gravitate to brighter colours. Though, I might be back for a pair of the Howards in grey. So Nice. Thanks to Caroline for always being so welcoming. Walrus is on top of my list of favourite shops in the city.

Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Sneakers & Boots. Cant Live Without Them.

Since I spend my days going for long walks at the beach in my area or around town, my sneakers and red hunter boots have been my best friends. It feels ages ago now since I used to wear heels, though, I was never really a heels person as I’ve always preferred boots, sneakers or flats. But these days, I can’t step outside my house without one of these shoes.

I also find it quite interesting how every one of these shoes have it’s own story. The red adidas are my oldest sneakers that I still sometimes wear. I’ve had them since 1998 and bought them on a trip to NY with my friend Sisi. Whenever I wear them, it still brings back memories of that time of my life. The Puma’s I picked up probably 6 yrs ago and they are probably my most comfortable sneakers. I can walk in them practically all day and brought them with me as I wandered around France, Spain and Italy. My bensimon’s are the easiest shoes to wear. They are almost like slippers to me. Though, I can no longer wear the green ones as it’s got a huge hole on the bottom but I still love them. The red hunters I just love as I can walk in those for hours and saves my feet from getting wet or cold. The white converse are my least favourite and has the least attachment to me. Though, I’ve been wearing them a lot more lately but are a little bit more stiff then the rest of my sneakers. Maybe in time, it’ll have it’s own story.

Red Bensimon

Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Red Bensimon

I bought a new pair of Bensimon’s last week in red. My old pair ended up having a hole on the bottom from wearing it too much I guess. It took me awhile to figure out part of my foot was already exposed on the ground when walking. I just kept on thinking I had sand in my shoes until I finally looked at the bottom of my shoes and saw a big hole! How the hell did that happen? It’s crazy how expensive these shoes are now. Gravity Pope is selling them for $65! Pretty cheap for sneakers but way too expensive for Bensimon’s I think. I bought my old pair for $20. Anyway, I searched online and ended up buying my new pair at Amazon.com for $35. I think they’re worth that price and nothing more… As much as I love Bensimon, I just can’t justify paying over $65 for them.

Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Spoiled with Lovely Presents

Luna has received the loveliest presents from our friends. The top above is designed by our very talented friend Genevieve. Her kids clothing line, Cielo is sold in various stores as well as on her website. I can’t wait for Luna to get bigger so she can wear it!

The toque is from our friends Shannon & Mark. They had purchased it from a friend who makes products made out of recycled woolen sweaters that they call Re-felt. It’s so cute and wintery!

Espadrilles + Bensimon

Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Espadrilles + Bensimon

Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Espadrilles + Bensimon

The only shoes I seem to be wearing lately are my Bensimons & espadrilles. I spend my days at home wearing my espadrilles as slippers and go for walks outside at the beach in my Bensimons. My wardrobe has changed completely since I got pregnant as leggings have been my best friends. Ultra comfort!

I grew up wearing espadrilles in the Philippines as we get a lot of products from Spain. They are super cheap and easy to wear. I had all the colours you could imagine. Now, I only have 1 pair in black which I bought in Barcelona for 8 euro. I wish I bought more! I did go to Madrid the year after but completely forgot to buy more. Hermés, Sperry and others have versions of espadrilles but I like the folky classics you find in the markets.

As for my pair of Bensimons, my search started when I was in Paris in 2008. I was looking for a pair of comfy sneakers to wear all day as I wandered the streets of Paris. A friend had told me about Bensimon before leaving Vancouver and had given me the store address which is located at Le Marais. So on our first day in Paris, we wandered the streets of Le Marais to look for the store which was an easy find. As soon as I stepped into the store, I fell in love with everything. I wanted to buy all the colours they had. I tried them on but for some reason, none of the sizes would fit me. I left the store wondering what was wrong with my feet! Why couldn’t I fit into any of the sizes? Bensimon seems to be the espadrilles of France. Almost all Parisians own or used to own a pair. They have a kids version too which are super cute. I’ll have to get a pair for Luna when she’s bigger. They are cheap as well and also super easy to wear. I ended up getting my Bensimon in Vancouver and surprisingly, I found a size that fit me!

Kimono

Peter Hoang & Nerissa Goco : Kimono

The prettiest baby Kimono I have ever seen. Luna receives her first mail last week and inside the envelope was the most gorgeous baby kimono that was sent by Jonathan & Anita. Thanks guys! It’s the prettiest thing, it makes me want to frame it rather than let her wear it! The Kimono is from Redfish Kids.
