Do you guys remember these monthly photos I used to do of Luna? I’ve been taking these monthly photos at home but just haven’t been posting them. It’s been a lot easier taking photos of her as she will willingly post & dance for me as I take a billion snap shots. At this stage of Luna’s life, she’s been really into dancing. When we walk into a store with music blasting, she will literally stop walking and will take a moment to dance. It always makes me giggle.

She did ballet this summer for 2 weeks everyday and loved it. She’s been begging since then to sign her up for another ballet class. I’m actually considering sending her to a professional ballet school in September. You know, those schools where they learn to dance real ballet and are taught by teachers who are graduates from top ballet institutions from around the world. They have pretty strict rules though like the hair must be pulled back tight in a bun and ballet uniforms should only be the Mondor brand. Yup, I’m actually considering it for Luna. It’s a full year program starting this September so once we sign up, we have to be fully committed.

But I think it’ll be good for her. Ballet provides grace, good posture, understanding of music & rhythm and creates confidence. I just think it would be so nice for her to have the proper skills and flexibility to be able to move her body to the sound of rhythm and feel free and confident doing it. My mom danced ballet for 18 yrs and was trained for a year with the famous Bolshoi Ballet Company from Russia. So I think my mom secretly hopes for Luna to follow her footsteps and form a love for ballet the way she did.

I’m thinking we’ll try it for a year and see how she does and feels about it…

Luna has discovered the fun of riding horses in a carousel. She tells us that she dreams about riding horses when she sleeps at night and during nap time. She’s also quite particular with the colour of horse she rides – It has to be black. Luna loves singing to songs and mimicking everything we do. She also loves pretending it’s our birthday and will constantly find random things to give to us as presents. Her favourite saying lately is “mommy, hold me”. Luna loves being with her grandparents who she calls “momsie” & “papa” as well as all her cousins. It’s really nice seeing her grow up surrounded by so much family and being so close to all her cousins who take such good care of her.

I was getting tired of the red chair and alphabet poster so I needed a change myself. The poster on the background was designed by Peter and I for our talented friends, Jonathan & Anita of Rollout.

Luna loves pesto pasta (just like her mama!), cakes, doughnuts, chocolates & her yellow shoes. She loves her yellow shoes so much that we sometimes hear her talking in her sleep whispering “yellow shoes, yellow shoes”. She’s also had a few nightmares lately where she screams out “choco milk, choco milk!”. Apparently, chocolate milk can be very scary.

Luna’s favourite song to dance to with Peter is UMI Says by Mos Def. Every night when Peter comes home, they dance to it together and it has to be played over and over again until dinner is served. She’s got some awesome moves too which totally works with the song. I video taped her dancing to it one night so I might just post it up one day.

Like any other kid out there, Luna has been smitten by Barney & Dora. Luna loves ice cream, peanut butter corn pops, granola bars, yoghurt drinks, chocolate and macaroni & cheese. Luna’s favourite words are ‘home’, ‘oh-oh’ & ‘cookie’. The playground & beach has been a favourite place to hang out and play. At the playground, Luna loves going down the slide all by herself. At the beach, she loves collecting little baby crabs with her cousins or digging a hole in the sand with her shovel. Luna has a new favourite puppy named Jade (my sisters puppy) that she loves to play with & gives her endless hugs.

We are almost 2 weeks late with these 18 months photos but it’s better late than never. A lot of development this month. Luna can now drink milk all by herself from her little orange cup & feeds herself too. Though, she usually needs a bath after as half of her food is all over her body. Luna also likes to mimic the sound of a monkey, a tiger and a dog. When she does the tiger sound, she expects us to run away and be scared. Which most times we do just to get a big laugh from her. Luna has also learned a new dance move – krumping!! Well, a baby version of krumping. She started dancing this way after watching Barney once. It’s so hilarious to watch. Luna loves playing dressup, wearing dresses, going for walks outside, reading time, bath time and eating chocolate.
